Truth Squad — weekly foul call update

Unless you’re a complete fanatic or actually running for office, you probably took a breather from politics after the exciting August primary election.

Well, the Michigan Truth Squad didn’t take a breather from political analysis.

Our referees have been at it all through the dog days of summer, analyzing campaign web sites, fliers, YouTube videos and other campaign material as the November election cycle begins to heat up.

TWO FLAGRANT FOULS: Against the Michigan Republican Party for misleading attack ads against Democratic attorney general candidate David Leyton and gubernatorial candidate Virg Bernero.

TECHNICAL FOUL: Against the Michigan Democratic Party for a press release calling GOP gubernatorial candidate Rick Snyder and lieutenant governor candidate Brian Calley “dumb and dumber.”
