Political analysis from a four-year-old

So, my four-year-old daughter, Delaney Bebow, pattered into the living room after dinner a few nights ago, stared dismissively at the shouting heads on a political talk show, and offered this delicious analysis of presidential politics and journalism…

“Mommy,” Delaney asked. “Can I watch Scooby Doo now? And… PIGS DON’T WEAR LIPSTICK!!!”

You be the judge…

Which is more cartoonish?

Scooby Doo…

Or what passes today for the networks’ version of political analysis…

I want to watch Scooby Doo too. I hope that the media can somehow pull the masks off these campaigns so that we can actually deal with the most serious issues our nation has faced for a generation.

Listen to what David Plotz says about this in Slate’s Political Gabfest.
