North Coast Update: High Curiosity, But Still A Dip In Tourism

Michigan’s official tourism web site continued to lead the nation in visits in July, but actual tourism in down a bit this year due to the state’s lagging economy and higher gasoline prices according to Comerica Bank’s Michigan Tourism index. One way to shift state tourism promotion into overdrive would be a “pillow tax” that could provide $30 million to pitch the state and millions more to help balance the state’s haggard books, says Thunder Bay Resort Founder Jack Matthias (doc).
