Michigan Story by Karen Joy Haas

Fall Day

Every year since I was very little my family and I would travel Up North to Mackinaw at least three times a year.  At least one of those times we would take my grandparents with us.  My parents, my sister and brother, my grandparents, and I would all cram into a minivan and take the 6 hour journey Up North to Mackinaw.  We would stay in the same hotel in the same room every time.  We loved the room, the view, the people, and the area.  While we were up there we would sight see, shop, and have good family fun and bonding time.  We traveled up there every year for almost fifteen years.  In September 2005 my grandfather passed away and grandma recently past away on November 3, 2007. My memories of them mostly consist of the trips we took up north. I wouldn’t replace those for anything.  Michigan is full of family memories and good times.
