Watch for more cash-strapped police and fire departments in Michigan to begin talking about joining forces. Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti are exploring sharing fire services and are spearheading a January 23 workshop featuring national consultant John Granito who’s been involved in more than 400 fire studies nationwide.
Watch for more journalists and citizens to begin to compute how their local fire and police department staffing levels compare to national averages and national certification recommendations.
Watch, too, for more the kind of turf battles evident when Buffalo, New York reworked its fire operations (another Granito) project.
