After selling his successful suburban Detroit community newspaper company two years ago, Phil Power probably could have lived anywhere he liked and done anything he wanted.
But instead of quietly retiring to some oceanside villa in the tropics, Power is trying to mobilize a citizens’ movement he hopes will lead Michigan out of the economic and political wilderness.
Fed up with state-budget shenanigans in Lansing and a lack of leadership to rejuvenate the state’s economy, Power is opting for action.

3 major problems here: 1) the auto companies who have lost their market share; 2) Governor Granholm who is anti-business; 3) Mayor kilpatrick who is corrupt. Can you resolve these problems?
3 more problems in Michigan: 1) High labor costs. why doesn’t the Governor go the Unions and tell them the market can’t afford their outrageous pay/benefits?; 2) High energy costs. Why don’t the Universities and utilities develop a plan? 3) High taxes. OOPS, the Governor just added to the problem.
Can you resolve these problems?

Phil should have gotten into the game last year with the “Fire the Senate” group when he was invited. After the state shutdown, I’ve had many ask us to step up this year and do it again…but unless some deep pocketed individual steps in to either “donate” the $500-700K needed to get it on the ballot or raise the money, the issue will die and our legislators will continue to piddle away their time on our dime. My guess is voters will continue to whine from the periphery, but do nothing. And next year, when the legislators fail to balance the budget in their legislative year, all will whine from the periphery again and do nothing. Groundhog day redux?
