Find Stimulus bucks for YOUR town

Search the list of ideas from every community in Michigan that wants the federal stimulus money. No one is sure yet how those federal billions will get spent, but we do know the proposals. This spreadsheet includes many important brick and mortar improvements to roads, schools, water mains, hospitals and other crucial structures.

The catalog of needed fixes to public facilities is staggering. So staggering, that it is hard to understand a few of the other eyebrow-raising and very creative grabs at the federal treasury in the list of Michigan proposals.

Some of our favorites:

  • East Jordan Middle School wants $4,000 for lawn irrigation.
  • Dollar Bay Schools wants $9,000 for a keyless entry system.
  • Davison wants $575,000 to renovate the high school football stadium.
  • Charlotte High School wants $750,000 to build 12 tennis courts “with appropriate infrastructure amenities.”
  • In Ishpeming, the reconstruction of eight tennis courts would cost only $350,000.
  • Adrian Middle School wants $78,000 to remodel locker rooms.
  • Lincoln Park Public Schools wants $480,000 for a 100-foot addition to a warehouse that would include a car wash bay. FYI… $480,000 is enough to buy 60,000 car washes at eight dollars each.
