The True Beauty of Michigan by Kelsey Duer

The true beauty and heart of Michigan comes from the Upper Peninsula. Many people do not even know what the Upper Peninsula or "U.P." is. The U.P. is one of the most spectacular places in the whole world. If people had the chance to learn more about it, more people would visit and fall in love. The U.P. isn't full of huge cities and different suburbs. It's full of small different towns that everyone knows and loves.

One thing I have noticed as I have gotten older is how much I appreciate this town. I have been many places throughout the United States and I always seem to miss it here. I live in Marquette. Marquette's the biggest town in the U.P! But if you have ever been here it's not that big, it's just full of so many fun filled things that make it so special. The massive snow is what really makes the U.P. amazing. There are so many ways to enjoy it up here. From the ski slopes, the snowmobiling in the woods, anything can be done here. The snow is something that so many people use and love it.

So many people that have moved away from Michigan told me one thing you will miss, is the water. I believe that too. Lake Superior is something I have taken for granted until now. I have used that lake for so much. You can climb to heights and see so many amazing views of this town, with the lake creeping next to it. You could never find this anywhere else. I want everyone to see those views like mine and feel for Michigan like I do and many others.
