The Partisan Cancer

By John Bebow - September 14, 2007

Political gamesmanship is a big part of the budget gridlock in Lansing. Bellicose shouts from the sidelines only make it worse. Consider Chuck Yob's rant this week. Yob, a longtime national Republican leader from west Michigan, blasted state GOP Chairman Saul Anuzis for not spending enough time beating up the Democrats. Yet some GOP legislators blame Anuzis for an all-time low in Lansing partisanship that prevents actual problem solving in our problem-ridden state capitol. Some of those on the other side of the aisle are certainly no better. Consider the bloggers at Michigan Liberal, where the apparent solution to the budget impasse is to publish a fake photo of Republican Senate Majority Mike Bishop smiling on a golf course. Neither side can ever win on this playground.
