The Front Lines of Reform

Struggling Michigan residents and businesses won't swallow tax increases unless they see big-time reform and efficiencies in government. Here are two examples of how that struggle plays out every day in Michigan communities. In Grand Rapids, city workers vow to fight the kind of wage and benefit cuts increasingly commonplace in the private sector. In Battle Creek, several area school districts are collaborating like never before, looking for ways to jointly save money on everything from food service to fuel.
