Thank God for My Michigan by Yasmin Flack

By The Center for Michigan - December 20, 2007

My Michigan My Michigan. My GOD! Thank you for my Michigan. I am a 23 year old African American female working hard to pursue my BSN in nursing. Throughout my journey, I've ran into many fascinating opportunities that I MUST thank GOD for. Let me first begin by saying, "Thank GOD for My Michigan"! I was born in Pontiac Michigan and have traveled to vicinities I didn't know existed. Each vicinity was beneficial for example, Auburn Hills, Rochester Hills, Troy, Muskegon, Holland Grand Rapids, St Louis, Lansing etc. No matter which location you choose- great opportunity is knocking! I Thank GOD for all the help available to those who pursue it in Michigan! Thank GOD for the jobs in Michigan that assists their employees with tuition reimbursement! Thank GOD for the scholarships, grants and financial aid! Thank GOD for the hard working parents/grandparents that saves for their children to attend college! Thank GOD for that outsider looking into your children's excellent athletic abilities which provides a full ride to college! Thank GOD for the teachers/tutors who spend their precious time outside of their busy lives to assist our loved ones in gaining more knowledge! Thank GOD for the school busses and school bus drivers! Thank GOD for the food and the preparers. Thank GOD for the heat and air in the schools/colleges. Thank GOD for the resources available that assists with school supplies! Thank GOD for the counselors that advises several individuals each day in addition to their own difficulties. Thank GOD for the technology, that allows us to keep up with our future! Thank you for ALL the sponsors who support EDUCATION and somehow fit it their extremely tight budget! Thank GOD for the love and support that surrounds us daily in Michigan! With everything mentioned and combined into one state! That's what I consider Michigan's Future!
