After selling his successful suburban Detroit community newspaper company two years ago, Phil Power probably could have lived anywhere he liked and done anything he wanted.
But instead of quietly retiring to some ocean-side villa in the tropics, Power is trying to mobilize a citizens movement he hopes will lead Michigan out of the economic and political wilderness.
Fed up with state-budget shenanigans and a lack of leadership from others to rejuvenate the state's economy, Power is opting for action.
