The University of Oregon whupped the University of Michigan on the football field this fall.
The State of Oregon whups the State of Michigan every year in government accountability and transparency.
Each year, the Oregon Progress Board measures the state's performance on 91 benchmarks, from students' readiness to learn, to road conditions, to business climate.
Michigan -- the state with perhaps the most acute need to understand its place in the world and adapt to the rapidly changing global economy -- has no such benchmarking.
It's time.
The governor's own emergency financial panel called for benchmarking nearly a year ago. Now comes Michigan sociologist and benchmarking supporter Reginald Carter, with a call to action in this special Center for Michigan guest column.

under post a comment, it says "your email is never published nor shared." that's not a neither/nor construction. the grammatically correct way to phrase it is "your email is never published or shared."
how's that for nitpicking? when it comes to benchmarking your grammar, i want you to be able to aim for perfection
