Michigan Moment by Lyle Birchman

By The Center for Michigan - January 14, 2008

An unforgettable 'Michigan Moment' in early January, 2008.

As I made my way through the woods with the temperature hovering around 15 degrees, I was grateful for the outstanding cross country skiing conditions. It seemed like an effortless endeavor as I swooshed along, startling an occasional white tailed deer. After easing down a small slope, the trail meandered along the waters edge. Moments later I paused to admire the reflection of the rising sun upon the Lookingglass River. The silence of the sunrise was punctuated by the sounds of the chickadees and nuthatches as they too greeted the day
