Michigan Essay by Taryn Freeman

By The Center for Michigan - March 7, 2008

My name is Taryn Freeman; I attend Battle Creek Central Public Schools.  This fall as the color of the leaves turn to the bright yellow and orange and the red that is like a flame in the setting sun, I am planning on attending Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo MI. to study business.  I attended the Calhoun Area Carrier Center during my junior year and my senior year taking Collision Repair; during my senior year I was privileged to be able to attend a co-op at a local body-shop for three hours every weekday in the morning for a period of 3 month being in the atmosphere for this time I realized I wanted to be on the owner side of the business rather than the employee, finding out that I would never be strong enough to be able to do the physical work, I would like to stay in the automobile field, running, scheduling, billing, and other office procedures, but would really like to be in charge to make the procedures, since car prices for repair are so expensive and would like to be able to work with my customers to make it easier for them to keep their cars on the road, to be able to make a living for their families, making a living in Michigan is hard enough but not to have a car makes it just that much harder.  Since I have already gone through a few years of this with my car trying to keep it on the road with repairs, I realize the importance to be able to make it to work and to school everyday.  Michigan winters thou very beautiful with the bright crisp snow as the ground freezes and thaws in the spring the pot holes become a problem for all that own a car, would like to help out with reasonable prices and to be able to work with customers so they can have their cars while still making payment.  I would never move from Michigan it is the only state in the union with it all: 4 seasons: Spring with the flowers just coming up, Summer with boating and swimming, Fall with racking and burning of leaves  roasting marshmallow and hot dogs, and Winter with the clean blanket of snow. Mountains, rivers, lakes and acres and acres of farm land to be able to provide crops for all that need them, the well kept ranches with horses and cows the speckle the road sides.

What truly compels me is to reach my goal in life is to not only help my self but other reach as high as their hearts and souls will take them.
