Let's Get Busy by Steve Wei

Hop in the Water

That's my daughter Jacklyn age 2 in summer 2007 having a grand time at Muskegon's Free and beautiful Pere Marquette park.  I call that photo "hop hop hop, splash."

I love my children with all my heart and want the best for them - quality of life, environment, family, education and career.

Michigan has always been known as a beautiful place to grow up & quality place to get a good education, but right now our reputation is degrading as we work through this difficult crisis.

My vision?

I want to see core mindset changes in this state.  I see places where the mindset is ‘oldschool' slum landlords of housing and business with little or no improvements because...they don't have to, and they have buddies in the local government that don't care about how blight looks.  This isnt a financial issue, its been going on for decades.

Lets Travel on infrastructure changes.  Mass rail transit between cities like Muskegon | Grand Rapids | Holland with stops in GrandHaven | Coopersville | Allegan | up to Ludington | Traverse City, reaching GVSU | Ferris State | Western Michigan etc, and eastward across the state as well.  Commuter trains that are built along the highways above ground if possible.  Michigan is beautiful, we don't need subways, lets use the view God gave us.

We need easily accessible and cheap adult education programs, not just for those laid off, but courses in technical and Trades fields for low-moderate income working adults.  The Governor's education plans sound great.

I want to breathe, swim, walk and relax in a Very Clean, Conserved Environment.  Clean up is paramount. Prevention is key.

I think we should have government subsidized Renewable Energy projects implemented to bring low cost energy to Michigan households.   Its available, its clean, its easy, theres no excuse not to use it.  Biodiesel could be used in most all forms of mass or government transport.   Wind Turbines can create 1.5 megawatts each.   Solar Panels are advancing in great technology for commercial and consumer use at lower and lower costs each day.  Lets get busy.
