		<description>Thanks for the insightful article.  Here are my issues.  I don't disagree with what was written - no politician likes to raise taxes, however, NO ONE, the governor, politicians or others seem to want to grab Department Heads by the collar and tell them WHERE they should cut in their respective departments!  When a legislator (in this case, Rep. Tom Casperson) suggested some specific departmental cuts, The Detroit Free Press chasties him for micro-managing!

I find it insulting that any leader, from the Executive, on down, will threaten us with cuts inState Police Patrols, yet allow hundreds of mid to high level bureaucrats to collect their big fat salaries with little job description and even less accountability to the public.

There are layers upon layers of appointees who had jobs CREATED for them, simply because they ran for office and lost.  Yet, we heard nothing about not making these political appoinments - only that we were going to cut cops and benefits to poor kids.

Can we please have some honest debate over these kinds of issues?</description>
