Join us on November 17 for a kitchen table talk on Michigan's public purse

By John Bebow - October 22, 2009

What are Michigan's top public investment priorities to help create the environment for high prosperity and high quality of life?

How much money should we invest in those priorities?

And what are the most sustainable and equitable tax options to fund those investments?

We welcome you to join the Center for Michigan for a free morning-long "Action Group" town hall meeting on those questions on Tuesday, November 17 in Lansing.

Our list of confirmed speakers includes some of the most influential policy thinkers and political groups in the state. Click here for the full agenda. Seating for the event (and the free lunch to follow) is limited so email us today to reserve your spot!!!

We call it a kitchen table talk about Michigan's public purse.

This is your chance to quickly get up to speed on the latest tax and budget proposals that impact your local community and schools, your wallet, your safety net, and your business balance sheet. It's an opportunity for concerned citizens and Community Conversation participants to mingle with state decision makers and the leaders of interest groups of all stripes who are lobbying on tax and budget issues every day in the capitol.

With a real, sustainable state budget solution still beyond the grasp of Lansing's top elected leaders, concerned citizens and interest groups have little recourse but to begin the debate and planning for the new Michigan beyond November 2010 when Michigan will elect a new governor, a new House speaker, and a new Senate majority leader.

Long-term tax and budget questions will be a central theme of the 2010 statewide agenda. Be part of the discussion on November 17.
