Join Our Candidate Meetings

By John Bebow - July 18, 2008

We're taking signups now for in-depth dialogues between citizens, community leaders and candidates in many of the more than 40 open state House seats. We'll begin holding those meetings shortly after the August primary. Already, we're meeting one-on-one with 50 candidates before the primary to spread the "Common Ground Agenda" developed in more than 180 community meetings across the state in the past year.

Please email us as soon as possible if you'd like to participate in a candidate conversation this August - October in your region. Or, contact our regional outreach coordinators directly to sign up:

WEST MICHIGAN -- Annette Guilfoyle, 616 460 6455
CENTRAL/OUTSTATE MICHIGAN -- Nancy Short, 202 390 5766
SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN -- Kim Johnson, 248 321 8635

We also continue to distribute the Common Ground Agenda for Michigan's Transformation. This month, the Grand Rapids Public Library System is the first system in the state to have a copy of The Center for Michigan report in every branch available for check out. A special thanks to Bill Hill of the GRPL for arranging this. If you would like copies for your library contact us at the phone numbers and email address listed above.

I'm very skeptical of any group in Michigan that speaks about partisanship. Just like Reform Michigan Now. What a joke.

Reforming Michigan wii not work by reforming the politicans. You will not reform Michigan until you reform a lot of its people. They are financially secure, self-centered and care less about anyone but themselves. They have the money that controls the public officials in Michigan.

Currently both national political parties are ignoring the economic plight of the American Family !! So are the Conservative talk show hosts. It seems that the national political parties JUST DON'T GET IT !!!

The national political party that first and effectively addresses the present economic turmoil and all of its negative ramifications for the American family, can not only win the White House, but can take majority control of BOTH houses of Congress.

There is a way for everyone to fight back NOW ! Let's do battle against the high priced rip offs of the crude oil producers and the distributors of product at the pump. It means uniting as a nation and fighting back ! Anyone interested ?

I would like to know when the meetings are scheduled.

I would be very interested in the views of all candidates about what they believe should change, if anything, in the personal income tax rules. There is always much talk and action on the business side of the tax collections but not much, if anything, on the personal income tax portion of the revenue picture.

If possible, I would also like to see some dialogue on this site as to what changes might be beneficial on the personal income tax rules.
