Improving Government

By John Bebow - May 22, 2008

The third leg in the MDM agenda is Effective, Efficient and Accountable Government.

It means:

  • Greater accountability and bipartisansan leadership in Michigan's legislature and other public sector institutions.
  • Clear taxing and spending priorities.
  • Government collaboration and service sharing.
  • To achieve those aims, Community Conversations participants recommend such actions as eliminating term limits for legislators, redirecting excessive prison spending to education and infrastructure and revising the state tax structure to make it fairer and less complex.
