Government Employee Analysis (July 2006) – Michigan has a leaner state and local government workforce than all but five other states. But our government workers earn higher wages than those in most states, Michigan demographer and census ace Kurt Metzger found in an analysis for The Center for Michigan.

    The Government Employee Analysis article talks about how Michigan ranks compared to other states. How about elected officials? I believe we have 28 more legislators than California. We have the second highest paid legislature in the country, second only to California. We have much less than a third of California's population. Are so called full time legislature is in session less than some part time legislatures.
