Government Efficiency Update

By The Center for Michigan - August 10, 2007

The Detroit Free Press looks at 10 little cities in Oakland County and finds all kinds of room for cooperation, consolidation, and savings. Jack Lessenberry says forces on both political extremes need to take a more reasoned look at privatization in Michigan schools. DetNews' Nolan Finley is fed up with inability of both conservative Republicans legislators and Gov. Jennifer Granholm to compromise and cut state spending on prisons. And the Lansing State Journal offers a novel compromise to reform the Legislature: shorten legislative sessions but don't further degrade the quality of representation by cutting pay.
