Dominance of the Great Lakes by Megan Thrasher

By The Center for Michigan - March 24, 2008

What makes Michigan Great? This question comes up all of the time when I meet people from all parts of the USA, and they want a quick synopsis on why Michigan would be a great place to visit as a tourist. Being born and raised in Inkster, MI for over 25 years, its hard to appreciate what your state has to offer until you travel outside the state. Michigan is the most unique state in the country. We experience all 4 seasons for weather, The Big Three in the Auto Industry, The Big 3 Casinos, and by the way the most important fact is that we have the Best Sports Teams and fans in the United States. Back to the topic at hand, Michigan has a blue collar feel and we are a hop skip and a jump from Canada. Entertainment is the key to help Michigan rise from all the hardships that its currently in. I envision that with the help of the state government, Michigan will be able to be a State mentioned in the same breathe as New York, California, and Illinois.
