By John Bebow - September 11, 2007

Ann Arbor's Center for Michigan, which seeks to promote civil and solution-oriented political conversation, noted in Friday's e-newsletter the lack of such in the state's continuing inability to put together a 2007-08 budget.

Sample comments from our elected leaders:

Gov. Jennifer Granholm: “Missing: Our State Legislature. Last seen on vacation while tuition rates rose.”

House Speaker Andy Dillon, a Democrat: “Senate Republicans walked away.”

Senate Majority Leader Mike Bishop, a Republican: “House Democrats need to come out from under their desks.”
