Community Conversations: Grab Your Seat!

By John Bebow - March 7, 2008

Dear Michigan Citizens and Center for Michigan Members,

Please join in with the 1,500 community leaders and engaged citizens working to develop a common ground agenda to transform our state.

There are three ways you can join in the latest round Community Conversations for the Michigan’s Defining Moment Public Engagement Campaign.

1. Reconvene. If you sat in on one of the 96 Round One conversations held around the state in October and November, your conversation convener has likely already contacted you to schedule your Round Two conversation for some time in March or April. Questions? Contact us at jlafay@pscinc.com.

2. Participate online. Today we are launching the Online version of the Round 2 conversation. Click here to participate in the same kind of deliberations of those in the in-person conversations and see the thoughts of other residents across the state.

3. Join an open Community Conversation in your region. The following community conversations are open to all Michigan residents, including Round One participants unable to make it to their regularly scheduled Round 2 events:

Monday, March 17, 4pm, Davenport University, W.A. Lettinga Campus, 6191 Kraft Avenue, Grand Rapids

Tuesday, March 18, 4pm, Western Michigan University Kendall Center, 50 West Jackson Street, Battle Creek

Wednesday, March 19, 4pm, Public Sector Consultants, 600 W St Joseph, Suite 10, Lansing

Thursday, March 20, 7pm, Vis Ta Tech Center, Schoolcraft College, 18600 Haggerty Road, Livonia

Monday, March 24, 4pm, Marriott Detroit-Troy, 200 W Big Beaver Rd, Troy

Tuesday, March 25, 4pm, Howell Opera House, 123 W Grand River, Howell

Wednesday, March 26, 4pm, Vis Ta Tech Center, Schoolcraft College, 18600 Haggerty Road, Livonia

Thursday, March 27, 3pm, Traverse City Chamber of Commerce, 202 E Grandview Pkwy, Traverse City

Seating is limited. Please reserve your seat today by emailing Jacquie Lafay at jlafay@pscinc.com. If you are unable to attend one of these sessions, we welcome your participation in our Online Community Conversation found on www.thecenterformichigan.net website.

Thank you for your continued interest in the future of our state.

In August last year, I had a newsletter from Campaign Finance Talk. In it a question was asked--"Who is Howie Rich?" He seems to be another out-of-state rich guy who is financing ballot committees in Michigan and is attempting to amend our constitution. Have seen nothing more recently and am wondering if he is still active here. Does anyone know?
