80 PERCENT OF KALAMAZOO PROMISE STUDENT MADE GOOD

KEEPING THE PROMISE: 80 percent of the Kalamazoo Promise students made good enough grades as college freshmen to re-enroll as sophomores this fall. In a guest column, Kalamazoo Gazette ace reporter Julie Mack describes all kinds of great signs as year two of the scholarship program begins. Her highlights: Afircan-American graduation rates are skyrocketing, students are taking tougher high school classes to get ready for college, and enrollment in the scholarship program is rapidly rising.
